Intercessions for Sunday 26th July 2020

Heavenly Father,

We pray for your Church, especially in this diocese; for Bishop Libby and the senior staff providing support to parishes during this difficult time.  We thank you for Rev’d Liz and our Ministry Team, as they continue to provide pastoral support, online services and events to keep us spiritually together.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

We thank you for the teaching of your Son, Jesus, in his life on earth and his example of leadership.  We pray for the renewal of a spirit of humility and a sense of responsibility among our world leaders; that the hungry may be fed, those who speak up for the poor and oppressed may be heard.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

Help us to live as you want us to: being a good neighbour, the eyes and ears of the parish as we hear of those less fortunate than ourselves.  May we be a welcome voice, a helping hand as we spread the warmth of your love to everyone we meet or have contact with.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayerPeak District National Park urges residents not to block footpaths ...

We thank you for your love and compassion for all who suffer in body, mind or spirit.  May your healing presence be with the health professionals looking after those who are ill in hospital or at home, especially: (add the names of those on your heart)

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

We pray for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, especially those who are bereaved and coping with the difficult circumstances of being isolated from family and friends.  Help them to be aware of your loving presence in their daily lives, and to be assured that those relinquished into your care are now at peace.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer

By the power of the Holy Spirit, work within us and among us to bring your kingdom in.

Merciful Father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen
